Fought Odds to become an IAS at 22: Story Of Pradeep Singh

If you are an UPSC Aspirant, you must have heard of Pradeep Singh, the person who cracked CSE 2018 with AIR-93 in his very first attempt. He was only 22 years old when he passed the CSE 2018. Originally from Bihar, he considers Indore his hometown, where his family lives. His father works at a Petrol Pump in the city.

He says his father came to Indore from Bihar in 1992 in search of a job and started working at a petrol pump to support the family. His mother is a housewife and his brother also works in a private firm. “My brother has motivated me to try civil service exam“, he says.

His father sold their only house to finance his coaching fee and other expenses in Delhi. He has gone through lots of ups and downs but has decided to never give up and clear this exam in the very first attempt in 2018.

Pradeep is a B.Com graduate. After graduation, he was thinking to start looking for a job but his father and brother insisted to rather prepare for UPSC. He came to Delhi and joined a coaching center to prepare for UPSC 2018. About his Preparation, he says-

last 2 years were very tough for me. I was giving my whole time to a single goal and was completely immersed in the studies. Never visited anything apart from India Gate in this period, that’s too I visited on the first day of my arrival in Delhi. Deleted all accounts on social media to prevent loss of time, stayed away from classmates, friends, and relatives as well in this duration”.

Finally, on 5th April, the result got declared, about those moments he says on his quora account that on that day, his friend downloaded the PDF first but he didn’t see in his phone because he wanted to see the result in his own phone, so I downloaded the PDF and searched for Pradeep, I got four results in that second was mine with AIR-93 with Roll No-0812761.

It was truly a great moment for me, I was feeling top of the world. I shouted angrily at that moment. All my hard work has been paid off. It was like a dream for me, I couldn’t sleep the whole night thinking it can fade away. After that, I must have attended almost a thousand calls and messages from well-wishers and friends.

He rightly says,

माना कि मंजिल दूर है, पर हार नही मंजूर है

His story motivates thousand of peoples who don’t have privilege but still continuously striving for making their dream comes true. And his success tells us that this is possible if you are giving your 100% to that cause. So now onwards stop doubting yourself and work hard.
